Dear NACPA Members and Friends:
I am thrilled to announce that Father Lawrence J. Sullivan, Archdiocesan Director of Catholic Cemeteries, Archdiocese of Chicago has been appointed as the new auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Father Larry is a longtime NACPA Member and is currently serving on the NACPA Board of Directors. This is a momentous occasion for both Father Larry and NACPA community.
Bishop Edward Weisenburger, episcopal moderator for NACPA, concelebrated the Farmworkers’ Early Morning Mass with Bishop Enrique Sanchez Martinez of Mexicali on December 5 in San Luis, Yuma County, Arizona. Bishop Weisenburger, bishop of Tucson, thanked the congregation for their labors and underscored that diocesan leaders stand in solidarity with farm workers.
Dr. Regina Haney, executive director of the National Association of Church Personnel Directors (NACPA) recently met with Cardinal Christophe Pierre, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States (left) and Rev. Thomas Gaunt, S.J., executive director, Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) at the Vatican Embassy in Washington, D.C. The occasion celebrated CARA's 60 Years of Advancing the Church's Mission.
The CARA gathering also provided an opportunity for Dr. Haney to network in NACPA’s behalf with several bishops in attendance, including Bishop W. Shawn McKnight of the Diocese of Jefferson City. Bishop McKnight took the opportunity to express to Dr. Haney his continued appreciation for all of NACPA's services.
To all members and supporters of NACPA,
Twenty-two years ago on September 11, terrorist attacks against the United States shocked our nation—and the entire world.
We remember in prayer those who lost their lives on that day and in its aftermath. We salute the brave men and women who defended our country then and who continue that mission today.
The National Association of Church Personnel Administrators joins millions of faith-filled people across the world in mourning the passing of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI on December 31.
The funeral Mass will be held in Rome on Thursday, January 5. Prayers from that liturgy include:
Dear NACPA Members and Supporters,
On Giving Tuesday—November 29—we ask your help in bringing a successful close to our 50th anniversary fund raising campaign.
To celebrate Labor Day, we invite you to reflect on this year's annual Labor Day statement released by the USCCB.
Clayton Sinyai, executive director of the Catholic Labor Network, introduced the statement by saying, "The USCCB has released its annual Labor Day statement reflecting on the condition of work and workers. Presented by Archbishop Paul Coakley, chair of the Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development, this year's statement pays special attention to the Pregnant Workers' Fairness Act, a cause that has brought together labor, the Church, and many other constituencies this year as it awaits a vote in the Senate. Archbishop Coakley also notes the role of labor unions in protecting workers from disruption during the pandemic and recalls the legacy of Monsignor George Higgins, the leading labor priest of his era who passed away 20 years ago this year."

This publication marks a special benchmark in the association’s history — 50 years of modeling Gospel values and promoting justice in the workplace. The report has been distributed to the U.S. Bishops with a cover letter from Bishop Edward J. Weisenburger, our Episcopal Moderator.
We pray, O Lord our God, for all those who suffer from acts of war, especially for the people in Ukraine. We pray for Thy peace and Thy mercy in the midst of the great suffering of Thy people. Vouchsafe to accept the prayers of The Church, so that by Thy goodness, peace may return to all peoples; hear us and have mercy.
